Bangkok trip September 2009

Random pics of my Bangkok trip :)

This trip was sponsored by my Mummy and Uncle John as their birthday present for me and my brother!

The last time I was at Bangkok I was only like Sec 2, so I bought a lot of stupid stuff like mickey mouse 3/4 pants wtf.

This time I bought a lot of goodies!!! That I'll definitely be able to wear for a really, really long time.

The only place in the world you'll see Ronald McDonalds with his palms together.. damn cute xD

Lobby of our hotel, Grande Centrepoint!

I totally recommend anyone who's going to BKK to stay here because the location is fab, the service is great and the hotel's restaurant is AWESOME.

Anyway I seriously fucking love hotels because the staff is at your service 24/7 and it's nice to come home to something already made up and all clean at the end of a long day. No cleaning, just playing! (..and paying)

Checking out the hotel's facilities :)

They have a neat playroom for kids!

There was a dad with his little baby boy, and he was just sitting there watching his baby play around.. It was a heartwarming scene. The room was all quiet when we walked in, and they kept smiling at us.

Felt a little bad for disrupting their tranquil environment, but they seemed to welcome us I even got to interact with the baby ^.^

I seem to like kids a lot more nowadays... I used to think they're annoying and too hard to handle, but well I guess I've met adults who are SO MUCH more difficult to handle that kids seem harmless.

Toys in the kids room..

I never really played with toys when I was younger, especially not this sort. Never found it interesting leh. Wonder what I did as a kid, I was quite an emo kid hahhaha. In primary school I was always left out and most of my time I spent reading.

I would read the whole textbook before the school term began so I would know everything the teacher talked before and fall asleep in class. I would read Harry Potter till 4am at night in super low lighting and that's why my degree is so effing high now.

Oh that and I once spent $800 on internet a month because it was pay-by-hour dial up and I was addicted to Neopets. LOL. The adventures of a 10 year old.

I remember "falling in love" with this angmoh guy in Neopets and the reason why my bill for internet was $800 was because I stayed up night after night just waiting for him to come online (time difference) and I think he found me creepy/annoying so he blocked on MSN which resulted in more hours spent waiting rofl.

Why am I telling you guys this??? LOL

Guys always wear the same clothes nowadays! Black berms, some Tshirt with graphic prints, slippers.. kinda like how girls typically wear high waist skirts with some random top, usually floral prints.

Yeah Rena is not very amused hahahahhahaha. I can fit in those little kids' tunnels, wow I'm amazed

My brother being weird~

The walls at the playground had disney stickers on them, I love!!!

Sam would like it too, we're such Disney fangirls ;) I seriously can't fucking wait to go to Disneyland this Christmas!!!!! I'm bouncing about just thinking about it

My fav Disney couple :)

Because it's not all frills and I can relate to it.. Sam wants me to go rent the Belle dress costume lol! And we'll do the Belle & Beast dance~

He sang the song "Tale As Old As Time" to me yesterday when I was feeling down.. Totally cheered me up.

A little place of haven in a concrete jungle.. I thought Singapore was a concrete jungle, then I saw Bangkok.

Looks nice but the pool was FILTHY. That's one thing I hate about most hotels - why is every inch of the hotel spotless, but the pool always filthy and filled with bugs, leaves, etc? Shouldn't it be the whole package?

Yay for having your own condos with realllyyyyy clean pools!

I love hotel buffet breakfasts omg yes I do!! SCRAMBLED EGGS ARE SOOOO YUMMY.

Can anyone tell me how they make their eggs so god damn creamy and yums? I know they use butter and milk/water, but my eggs still don't have that creamy buttery taste that they have! I must learn how to cook nice scrambled eggs, because for the rest of my life I wanna have scrambled eggs + sausage + pancakes for breakfast omg win :')

LOVE thai massages!!!

Accessories loots~
Most of them only costed $2 or so!

I bought aloooot of stuff but I decided not to blog about them all cuz abit lame la, too many and quite unnecessary.

I didn't think the stuff in bangkok was that nice or that cheap really.. Definitely cheaper than SG but I'd rather pay the extra money than have to pay for air ticket, hotel etc.

Still like shopping in SG the best :)

I'll never go overseas for shopping again, what a waste of time! I'd much rather hit the beach, visit historical sites or go sightseeing etc..

Anywayyyy.

I blinged my camera!!!!! :D

It's my first time blinging something, so I decided to use my shitty camera as a guinea pig.

This is what it looked like before...

Silver, scratched and so boring

.
.
.
.
.
.

After:

Yay, all done!!!!!!!!

Well, not quite almost done but ALMOST. Except for some tiny pink crystals missing around the ring, ran out of small crystals need to restock :P

Spent very little on the bling, because 90% of crystals you see in the pic above, I bought in Bangkok for less than SGD 5 total!! How mad cheap is that?!

Think it looks rather good for a first-timer, only quite annoyed because I accidentally coated some crystals with glue on top so they don't shine at all! Damn angry but lazy to re-do. 80% of the bling still shines though... Will do a better job with my next one.

Sam says he'll bling my laptop for me!!! I has major luff for mai bf :D :D :D :D

Anywayyyy more L4D time now! Crash Course new map omfgggg woot. VERSUS! I did a hunter pounce for 40 dmg recently oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

"The girl through the window"

Ever since the first day I've been writing this blog, it has only known one author and that is me.

Today, here's a blog entry to share with you guys that was not written by me, but by my darling boyfriend instead...

It's the most precious and funniest blog entry ever!
:')

This blog post by Sam is called,

"The girl through the window"

Enjoy~

Ever walked down the streets of town and viewed something through the shop window and its just simply out of reach for one reason or another even though it's right there in front of you?

Imagine that the item is not a purse, a dress or a pair of shoes but something of much greater value like a person you have grown feelings for, how much would you do to obtain that unreachable goal?

Why these questions you wonder? Because these are the questions I asked myself not too long ago.

How much am I willing to sacrifice on something that could be just an illusion.. a hallucination, a manifestation of what I desire?

I thought long and hard, I took time to think, a long 3 days of just battling with my inner self making sense of it all, cos it didn't make sense at all.

Finally I was 'poked' with the words "You've been staying up late these nights", a moment I somewhat both dreaded and desired.

Would I stand tall to the challenge or kneel to the pressure? In the end, I muttered the words 'I think I like you'

You the readers pass judgement did I triumph or fail miserably, of course here is the more complete tale of what would be known as how Sam the freaken l4d guy met Jess.

It wasn't a fairy tale beginning at all, the first few conversations were nothing more then "Hey I think this is better because.." and "you are wrong because...." and "Singapore is crap because...."

Despite the racial hate and assertion of superiority, the conversations started to become longer, more interesting, more intriguing, more sought after and more desired.

Before I knew it, I was racing to the microphone, cutting obligations shorter just to increase the amount of contact as much as possible, and before I realised it myself I had fallen, fallen too deep...

And I didn't know it yet, how stupid I was and still are.

But the feelings were masked by the normal prejudices and childish namecalling and life went on, online.

Things were changing in the world, everyone is poorer besides China, stem cell research is allowed now, the president is coloured with a 'U', may as well change the world in which we prance and play in and so L4D became Maplestory.

Sinfully one of the world's most monotonous games ever,
kill 1293123792103123781236128312 mushrooms so you can kill mushrooms with a yellow piece of paper on their face.

Even so the gameplay mattered not, and I forgot this by the end, it doesn't matter what activity you partake with her, it only matters if she is happy doing it.

Being the dumb shit mother fucking retard I am, I decided to take unnecessary charge and convince a truly happy person that her happiness is fake and that games exist for the hunt, for achievement, and for rewards.

My solution was to find another more satisfying game with 'better' modern game features, request absolutely positively DENIED.

I was so young then, a child with no clue of what it had just done when it flushed dad's rolex down the crapper.

But still I did migrate games to one more modern with all the trimmings - better graphics, gameplay, sound but something was missing that made all the difference.

What was missing was that thing I spent countless hours just staring at through the window... wishing, waiting, yearning.

I thought it was lost to me, that all that I had built had crumbled down to rubble. That's how I felt inside. What was worst was how I couldn't admit to myself that I was wrong, that the environment matters not but the person you experience it with does.

Someone up there seriously likes me because I was given a second chance, "You've been staying up late these nights".

The meaning of these words are irrelevant, but their existence the importance cannot be stressed enough, these were the words I couldn't utter myself.

With all life's trials, nothing prepared me for what was to become one of the longest nights of my life.

The conversation was awkward, even by our standards and may even be ommitted for privacy's sake.

Typing was a good option to break the ice, I asked her if she was about to sleep, the answer didn't matter for I wanted to talk voice to voice and not with typing.

The tension was thick, thicker than my skull when all this happened. I was nervous. My leg shaking and palms sweating.

Still I persevered with flattery and empty words to steer the conversation and interest in my favour, but little could be said and little could be done.

I asked what the matter was, as I usually do, what's the "next step". I don't know how many times i repeated those words that night, probably more then how many ghost mushrooms I slaughtered to get to level 25 in Maplestory.

I felt my efforts failing, my intentions unclear, the outcomes clear.. grow some man testicles or lose your chance forever.

The choice was simple - there was no way I would let things implode like this.

.
.
.
.
.
.

I gathered all my manliness and I came up with... "I think I like you"

....I think I fucking like you, what the flying fuck is that?

Out of the billion most romantic things to say, I chose second from the bottom just above "I want to rape you."

I scratched my head not because of a response to stimuli but out of digust.. What have you just done Sam?

The silence was deafening, what would she reply? She asked me whether or not I thought she was happy about this.

HOW THE FUCK WOULD I KNOW?

My brain could barely process auditable words let alone compute emotions. Once again she proves herself to be the more mature adult and recites her little poem, I'm sure you know of it, it was on her blog.

Oh yeah little fact - I promised her not to read her blog till end of the year cos that's when we thought we wouldnt be talking anymore.

After hearing it, all I could do was smile, sit in my chair and smile.

Not the small "Hey I found an Australian 2 dollar coin smile", the "Hey the girl I have feelings for has feelings for me too" smile,

so it's kinda like this :)))))))))))))))))))))))))

We talked hours into the night again about random stuff, most of which I can't remember since I had a washing feeling of total euphoria.

.
.
.

.
.
.

.
.
.

And I finally realised I had stepped through the door, across the other side of the window and within reach.

Within reach of that girl.

Jess (and Sam!)

My 17th birthday

Was a simple one, but I had everything I needed, wanted and more than what I asked for.

Spent the day with family and my boyfriend...

Sam the medical scientist, darling bf who is a 7 hour flight away right now.

Prof Loh the dental surgeon / lecturer, my dad.

Jeremy the gamer brother who is bumming in the room next to mine now.

The only men in my life.

I keep very few girl friends, let alone male friends... so you're looking at the only males I give a shit about in this world.

Besides Zac Efron.

Me and the boys went for an indian buffet lunch @ Masala Art @ Peninsula Hotel which was reasonably priced at about $20 per head. Food quality and variety not bad, definitely value for money... Good choice dad, I'll be back there soon!!!

I used to make a big deal out of birthdays until I realized that you don't need to spend a whole lot of money to invite a whole bunch of people to a fancy party.

Quiet, simple celebrations work just fine for me as long as they're with my fav people...

Ever since then, decided not to have a birthday party until my 21st, which is a shocking 4 years away!!

God I love being this young, despite the reactions I always get. I feel like I'm at an advantage of being given a head start, because I'm only 17 and yet I'm living the life of possibly a 21 year old already. I feel fortunate to have experienced as much as I did.

Anyway, Sam flew to SG to celebrate my birthday with me, yay!!!

Haven't had a birthday cake in awhile, so we baked one~

In the oven looking quite fail lol!!!

The top part was weird looking and the inside wasn't baked properly, only realized after 40 minutes that the problem was because the oven was set on pre heat and not on baking mode -____-

Top part was partially cooked but the center wasn't, so we sliced it off with a butcher knife and shoved it in the oven again hahaha.

The adventures of fail cake makers!

I know it looks dubious, but the batter actually tasted GOOD!

Especially when it's fresh from the oven and still warm and fluffy and melts in your mouth, mmmm.. Vanilla spongy cake ftw!

It looks orange cuz I added red food colouring, intended for it to be pink but turned out this weird color anyway :P

Cut the cake in half to slap some cream on!!

Painfully whipped by my boyfriend who spent about half hour whipping the liquid cream in a bowl (twice) and cursing under his breath, wondering why my house doesn't have a blender.

The icing we made!

OMG THIS IS SO YUMMY!!!
No doubt diabetic sweet but soooooo good. The texture and taste is to die for. I've never made icing by myself before and it's just so much better than icing you get outside!

Completely covered it with yummy icing, a bit excessive and I know it looks uneven and all but man you should have seen what it looked like without the lifesaver that was icing lolol

I picked the decorations for my cake, and Sam designed it!

Rainbow sprinkes. Goooood stuff.

Rainbow daisies!!!! How brilliant eh?

Cleaning the cake up nicely as you can tell :P

Such a happy and cheery looking birthday cake! Any happier, you'd have to draw :) on it

Carefully drawing my name on with edible glittery red gel!!! Awwww

Despite trembling hands, I still think he did a good job :P

Most guys have terrible handwriting and can't draw for nuts, but he actually has artistic talent!! You'll see later.

So proud of him. I'm glad everyone who's met him, likes him too! Intelligent, independent, capable, funny, understanding, patient, creative, determined, opinionated, free-spirited, loving, I could go on forever listing all the great things about him...

He drew Jessica and I drew Sam. I suck at cursive writing

The final product!!!

I reckon it looks pretty damn good (for our standards anyway hahaha) but yeah the icing needs a little smoothening to be done :P

After all this was done, I accidentally poured some rainbow sprinkles all over the top of the cake and the expression on his face was priceless!!!!

He spent the next 20 minutes picking the sprinkles out of the icing and red words with a tweezer LOL.

Everything feels like a dream, except this is a dream come true.

The nights are lonely when you're gone and the days seem to drag on longer... but it doesn't matter, cuz..

A long distance relationship is hard

...but loving you is easy.

The jewelry's absolutely lovely.

I love it.

The portrait of us is sooo precious.

I love it.

But nothing was better than having you in Singapore with me on my birthday...

So thank you for making my 17th birthday so memorable :)

And thank you so, so sosososo much for everything else.

jess and sam and phuket part 3

The 3rd day of adventure in Phuket continues...

We woke up early and had breakfast by the beach again. I love buffet breakfasts - nothing better to wake up to than a hearty breakfast!!!

.
.
.
.

An hour after breakfast, we went to Jet Ski!

Omg I love Jet-Skiing!
I swear racing across the sea and jumping waves is one of the best feelings ever.

It was really fun jet-skiing in Phuket because they allow you to ride to wherever the hell you want, no restrictions!

The last time I went jet-skiing at Bintan, the area allowed was so retardedly small.

The downside was that the water was quite choppy that day with relatively big waves. It is the monsoon season afterall.

After jet-skiing for about 15 mins, there was a wave wayyy too big for me to handle and the jet ski toppled over, throwing us off.

Everything happened so fast, it was like "WEEEE look at me jet-skiing across Phuket"

and then like "Ooooh shit there's a huge ass wave... we're going down"

and then like "yup okay we just got washed off the jet ski and into sea, now what?"

I bobbed back up to the surface in a few seconds, Sam held my hand and we both gasped for air as wave after wave kept dunking us...

For one moment, it felt like one of those movie scenes whereby you look around desperately for your lover in the sea going like, "Where are you?? Hold my hand!!!"

After like 10 mins,

someone finally noticed us and came with a jet ski to pick us up, but he picked Sam up and left me floating there helplessly omg!!

I was pretty tired and scared by then because there was just sooo many big waves crashing down on my head every few seconds and I couldn't breathe properly, and the current kept pulling me back further into sea, plus the lifejacket was slipping through and I tried my best to swim forward but to no avail, and for a moment I thought I might drown.

Sam tried to swim back to me but some guy with a jet ski got to me first, and dragged me back to shore...

.
.
.
.

Couldn't even walk properly when I reached the shore but I was glad to be on dry land again.

I felt soo bad cuz I was the one behind the wheel and caused the both of us to fall off, and Sam was just so worried sick and I knew he had enough strength to have swam back to shore himself but he chose to stick with me.

Definitely one of the most dramatic moments in my life because if someone didn't come get me, I would have slowly but surely drowned as Sam said. I think drowning is one of the worst ways to die :(

Anyway the main point is that I'm still here now, very much alive and kicking and thus you still have the privilege of reading my blog, yay :P

End of dramatic story.

We went back to our hotel room which was thankfully only a few steps away, and I told Sam I wanted to go parasailing next but he didn't allow me to go!! Booooooooooo.

He promised he'd take me parasailing some other time but not this time cuz the jet ski incident was enough "excitement" for one day.

.
.
.

We fell asleep cuz we were both sooo tired and about 2 hours later, we were awoken by a phone call telling us a van was already waiting at the lobby to pick us up! Wtf!

Totally forgot about the day's tour I'd planned the night before. Got changed and out of the room in like 3 minutes. Sometimes I'm amazed at how I can take 3 mins or 3 hours to leave the house.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Took quite a long drive away from the city...

And we arrive at our destination!!

Can you spot my ride for the day? Nope, not a jet ski this time!

.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

A freaking elephant!!!

And as if riding a jet ski and an elephant isn't enough for one day, we also went on...

ATV vehicles!!!

But first, we're treated to a monkey show.

Monkey selling monkey balm! (That I bought for 10 baht, I passed the monkey the coin and he gave me a small box hahaha)

Sawadee kaaaaaaaaa!! ^.^

Not only is this monkey a merchant and greets people politely, he also....

Plays basketball well

Of course, this would not be possible without strenuous training!

Monkey does push ups :P

Sit ups too!!! LOL.

Monkey rides a bike!

We yell out numbers and the monkey actually knows where it is without looking! Omg, now I need a pet like that.

The trainer then asked me to come and try pick out the numbers myself just like the monkey did, and I couldn't even do it after the 6th try -_-

I dunno why he did that though, either to prove that there wasn't any markings on the back of the planks or that his monkey is smarter than me.

Is it just me or does the monkey look like he's laughing at me??

Great. Now Sam can go marry a monkey instead because it does everything I can't. I can't play basketball, can't ride a bike, can't do math and I'm pretty sure I'd make a terrible salesperson.

Monkey seems to like my boyfriend...

Yup monkey definitely likes my boyfriend.

Our elephant ride through the jungle awaits!

I've sat on elephants before, but it was nothing like this!!!!

It was usually on solid ground, but this time we were going down muddy steep slopes and into the jungle which made it twice as bumpy and scary!

Check out how steep the slopes are!

I was quite afraid the elephant would slip and fall although high unlikely... I wonder if elephants ever trip lol would be quite funny since they're so big and clumsy looking

Pretty cool trekking through the jungle on an elephant, the only downside was that there was sooo much HUGE flies and insects everywhere and I think I spent more time smacking flies and freaking out than actually acknowledging the fact that I was on an elephant.

The mahout smacked the elephant's head with a stick when it was going the wrong way and Sam was like "WTF who does that? What if the elephant gets pissed off and throws us off cuz I'm pretty sure I'd be pissed off if someone smacked my head like that" hahahaha

For those of who you have never been on an elephant ride before, it's quite slow and extremely rocky! You rock to the left and to the right when the elephant walks, and you feel like you're going to fall off but you won't...... I hope.

Yup we're definitely in the countryside now.

Half hour of jungle trekking on an elephant passed, and the ride was over, much to my relief! It was an interesting experience and everything, but there were wayyyy too many insects and all that and I was freaking out big time.

Sam feeding the 35 year old elephant who worked hard for us...

Up next - ATV ride!!!

I've been hearing so much about ATV and I really wanted to try it out!

Basically it's like a mini monster truck vehicle thingy and you ride through very rocky and muddy terrains!

They say it's safe, but it's actually really dangerous if you don't know how to go up and down slopes properly and such.

I insisted on wearing a raincoat because I didn't wanna be muddy all over LOL!

I had a hard time understanding the thai tour guide's instructions, so I didn't know how to brake properly and when they stopped in front of me my vehicle went up his in the middle of the road hahahaha.

You need quite a bit of arm strength to grip the handles firmly, so when you go on rocky terrains you don't lose control and go flying onto rocks and mud.

HAHAHAHA WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!

That's me, first time riding ATV, wearing a stupid raincoat with an awkward mixture of a half smile and frown on my face.

Part of me was going "WEEEE COOL" and another part was "YUCK, WALAO, WTF YOU DOING JESS"

I got stuck in a watery muddy hole and instead of pushing the vehicle out, I accelerated and ended up having a generous amount of mud and elephant poo on myself. Fanfuckingtastic.

HAHAHAH classic.

Just classic.

Never again will you catch me with that expression on my face.. and I love how you can see Sam carrying my hot pink Victoria's Secret tote in the background xD

At this point I looked to my left and there was this cow or something and it just grazed grass and stared at me while I panic and struggle, obviously quite amused at this strange creature that was me.

Sam actually smiling and looking alot more confident than me

When I reached this part, I cringed and went "NOOOOoooooOoooooo..."

Yup, don't mind me everyone.

I'm just minding my own business, just cruising along and just...

Just..

Just getting stuck once again, like a retard. LOL.

After riding for about 15 minutes, I started to get the hang of it and a little more confident....

Yeah now act haolian to make up for embarrassing picture before lolol.

DaNang cupcakes and tea + Shiberty cookies and milk!! ("v")

The first few of their many more adventures together to come

I know the paths look relatively smooth in these pictures, but don't let them fool you! They were only for photo taking purposes, the real thing was super muddy and bumpy and some slopes were super steep, especially when we went into the jungle

Wow... sexy legs

DAMN SICK!!!!!

I think half of that was elephant poo poo!!!!!!!!@@@@@@1111

Everytime some of it got onto my legs, a little part of me died inside.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

We rode into the jungle, where they took to us this neat little waterfall place!

We washed our feet (thank goodness) and the boys decided to take a little dip!

Our tour guides were really friendly and nice, most of them were :)

Thailand is such a nice place to visit because most of their people are so gracious, you really can't help but smile back when a stranger smiles at you.

I love it when a shop owner says "thank you" and smiles when I walk out of their shop without buying anything instead of scowling at me.

I love a spontaneous holiday and not knowing what to expect :)

Makes it all that much more exciting!

Awwww :')

Finally, we took a rather slow drive back, passing by their little shops and houses and it was fun waving to all the friendly locals! It was my favourite part of the day. Relaxing and fun.

Felt like just for one moment, I was part of their little town.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

This brings us to the end of my phuket adventures! There are other parts of the trip I would blog about, but I don't have time, so maybe not afterall.

This was a very special and intimate trip for me, but some things you'd rather keep to yourself.

.

I'm going to pick Sam from the airport very soon,

omg omg omg omg omg

SO MAD HAPPY HE'S HERE!!!!!!

Just took this picture cuz I still have a bit of time to kill.

He says he has a very pleasant surprise present waiting for me and I'm dying to know what it is :D

Sorry for not blogging the past few days, Bangkok was too hectic! Life has been a crazy whirlwind recently.

Actually, that's kinda how it's always been... hmmm

Anyway enough of that!!

Gonna go pick him up now, bye bye bye bye bye bye bye!!!!!!

Jess
